3rd line LW

Description
I am not convinced Robertson is ready to make the jump. So, in this scenario, is his loaned to overseas for a year to play with men and season his skill set.

Question is, who plays 3rd line LW? I have 3 UFA options - Kovy, Kahun or Wallmark. In the system, Höllander, Barbanov or the newly acquire Anderson.

Frankly, I think Kovy is worth a 1 year gamble, but looking for thoughts.

I very convinced he can make the jump to the nhl. He already has actually. He played 4 playoff games (one Pre-playoff too) and scored a GOAL.

Well aware.

I am a proponent of at least a year of development before making the jump. Kind of the point of my post.

Skill set is there, but if he is sent to Europe for a year, I see him immediately stepping into a top 6 role seemlessly.

Everyone seems to think he will. There is a flipside to this. Maybe he doesn't. Then what? What's the insurance policy. Engvall?😳

Well. Leafs just signed Vesey. Not my fifth or sixth choice, but I think a point has been proven.

He’s still going to play, I nearly guarantee it.

Signing Vesey says otherwise.

Beg to differ.

He is too small for 3rd line duties. Europe for a year, and he replaces Hyman, who moves down the line up.

Why do you think he is too small for the 3rd line, and why can't Vesey play line 4? Too small is not a reason.

Engvall, Spezza and Boyd I would be penciling in for the 4th line. Maglin will be in and out.

Robertson's playoff debut was simply because he was the best of the rest - and yes, he made the most of the oppotunity. But, given the direction Dubas has taken in his UFA signings (200lbs + and can skate), it heavily suggests to me the organization is going to send Robertain somewhere for further development. It all adds up to Robertson being too small for the bottom 6. A year abroad will not hurt him - it will allow him to fill out his frame a bit more, play with men and this, make him far more top 6 ready a year from now.

Everyone is in a rush to put him in the line up when frankly, there just isn't a need to do so.

Robertson is top 6 skill. So, put him somewhere where he is going to see top 6 minutes, because that isn't happening in Toronto..... this year.
