He obviously wants another chance to prove himself and get a long-term contract and/or even be traded to a contender until the trade deadline to have a chance to win his first cup.

He wants to be on Eichel’s line so he can rack up points then sign for 10 next year. Bold strategy. Eichel has to be happy tho.

Wondering if Buffalo has to be taken seriously if they sign Pietrangelo now.
Bold prediction Pietrangelo goes to Sabres. (Mostly because I hate Boston and I don't think Vegas has the cap space.)

Are you kidding me? This is a steal for the Sabres... The fact that they were able to get him at all is a freaking miracle.
Amazing move for the Sabres. He'll either help the Sabres make a run for the playoffs (unlikely) or they'll flip him at the TDL to a contender.

I voted yes for a good deal. “Isn’t great” doesn’t mean bad. I woulda like to see 2 years for the Sabres as that gives a security to the team and honestly more time for a chemistry to develop if there’s stepping stones (like pavelski with the stars just for example: it took time). sabres do not lose this deal by any means at all unless he gets hurt but they can flip him or keep him so they have options you said

imma say this isn't a good signing, because the Sabres have a logjam on LW and are super bare on RW. The logical move if they wanted a big name would be Hoffman/Dadonov/Tofolli imo

No matter what the fit is positionally, I’m betting Hall would fetch quite a bit more at the deadline. Plus he’s willing to take a 1 year deal.

This deal is a shock to say the least. Maybe Hall is thinking this is his best shot to play with an elite center, and cash in next season. If he gets Buffalo into the playoffs he will automatically get Hart consideration, just by virtue of the turn around. If not he gets traded to a contender. Buffalo can get a great return, especially if they hold back salary.

I have no idea how anyone votes no on this as a deal for Buffalo though. Even if you think this makes Hall a bit of a mercenary, that's fine, they have him on a mercenary contract. They keep Eichel happy by giving him a high level winger, and if he gets them into the playoffs it cost them nothing but cap space to improve. If not, they have an asset that can make them more fun to watch and get them futures at the trade deadline. He's almost certainly going to be worth $8M next season, so I don't see the downside for the Sabres.

Taylor Hall is an idi*t. Clearly he's working with Marner's agent. He took the extra money on one of the worst teams in the league instead of taking a cut for one year with a good team to boost his stats. I think all of Derrin Ferris' clients must be the greediest players in the NHL.

Great signing for Buffalo, I seriously question why Hall went here though.

Fair enough. I think it is "great" though.
No matter what ends up happening with Hall, the Sabres get an amazing player for a year. And they get to see how close they really are to contending.

Buffalo fans are craving so much for playoffs that they will gladly give the blind eye to the one year term, knowing in the bottom of their hearts they are being used for promotion purpose, and that Hall will sign longterm elsewhere next year.

Sabres are basicaly my friend who had a date with my ex just because she wanted to get my attention and make me jealous.🤣

Business wise. Hall made a great move. Setup a good statline on a line with Eichel and Reinhart. Get the hell out of Buffalo at TDL. Do some damage on a playoff pushing team. Then sign a huge contract next year. Buffalo gave Hall a prove me your worth it deal. But he probably won't last long in Buffalo. This is more of fixing Eichel's moral and comfort with the team.
