TBH, in a season where it is so uncertain how many games will be played, what a savvy move by Hall. He will either miraculously help the Sabres get into playoff contention, or be traded at the deadline to someone who has already done the work to be a top team. Or at worst, he tries to pad his stats all year, misses the playoffs, and gets a huge contract somewhere. For the Sabres, this makes Eichel happy, and either gets them into the playoffs or likely a 1st round pick and some good prospects at the deadline. Honestly such smart thinking.

if thats the case leafs should have delt Marner for cap flexibility, F depth, a top 4 D, and picks (depending on how good the F replacement and D are)
