I would normally say theres not a chance in hell he stays long term, but i think he’s already proven to be irredeemably stupid. The only way this makes a lick of sense is if he wanted to sign with a bad team so he could get moved at the deadline.

He's going to be playing next to Eichel, who is easily the best center he's EVER had. At the very least that's going to pump up his numbers for a huge contract next year. And why would he sign with a bed team because he wants to get traded, when he is a freakin' UFA.. he can sign where ever he wants.. i know what you are trying to say.. basically he wants to waste the first half of a contract year to be traded to a contender at the deadline.. well he signed with a Full No Movement and No TRADE Clause.. I'm not saying he wants to be here long term, but if things work out he's definitely open to it.

Add picks as needed in the Calgary trade would be Sabres 1st, if in top 5, Edm 2nd and 2022 1st unless Mittelstadt turns into Suzuki/Kotkaniemi in one season.
Really like the 3rd line. Let kids grow together for years....
