Description
Can't Warrant the pick up of Kovalchuk tbh I'd just love to see him in the Blue and White but he would be a decent veteran presence in the locker room ( kinda like our own Justin Williams? ) Holl and a 3rd for Zetterberg's LTIR contract would be a cash dump but Detroit does need another decent RHD so i don't see how Yzer would'nt make this trade but i can understand why it doesn't make sense to people. The florida trade may be an overpayment on the Leafs part or it may be just enough as long as Weegar signs for below 3 mil then its fine!

Why should TOR pay to get Zetterberg's dead contract?

Like I said doesn't make much sense but Dubas may want some LTIR money to help operate above the cap floor while Detroit has 18 mil + in cap? but I understand where your coming from doesn't make much sense at all that's why it's just for ****s and giggles

Panthers decline, would get better offers for Weegar alone. Plus if that’s his cost the Cats keep him and trade Stralman/Yandle

They'd have to retain half of Stralman's contract for that to even work as well Yandle's even more but like I said I get where you're coming from

I don’t necessarily agree with “having” to retain salary on either player. It would be on a case by case. For instance if you send Stralman to Ottawa along with a quality prospect and a 2nd then they shouldn’t have to retain. As for Yandle, he is willing to waive to go to Boston and they need a quarterback on the PP from the left side. Taking an RFA Boston feels will be too expensive or someone like Moore could work as well.

Things to consider when trading for Weegar....

1. He has part of one "good" season in his career
2. He was a healthy scratch at least 7 times
3. He played 70% of his shifts with Ekblad this past season.
4. He has a history of concussions.
5. He played more then 50% of his shiftd this past season with Barkov and Huberdeau

He is worth his offer sheet value to a team that wants him. He is worth a 3rd round pick at most.

Aciari is a replacement player on a decent contract but doesn't move the needle skill wise. Also I would put him at center.

Note: Korshkov is on a point per game pace this year in the KHL and will likely push for a roster spot in training camp. I wouldn't trade him.

Your Detroit trade makes no sense.

Zetterberg's deal in real money is 1 million and over 6 million in cap, but Wings have zero interest in Holl. This trade makes zero sense from a Wings perspective.
