I think you and I are the only Jets fans on here who don't think DeMelo is a top pairing dman.. Lol

I think DeMelo could be an okay 2nd pair guy if the Jets had a stud LHD to pair with him like say someone like H.Lindholm for example but the Jets don't have anyone like that.

I think the D core is somewhat better and Forbort was actually a good signing but the defense hasn't improved enough to go anywhere in the playoffs, still think it's too small especially the top pair which got run through by Calgary.

Would really like Severson and a one year deal for Hamonic but I think it'd take more than that to get Severson and I doubt the Devils would move him, they probably want to improve their defense, not weaken it.

You have lots of Winnipeg fans that say Roslovic and Niku were misused in our system and need a change of scenery. Rumor yesterday that Roslovic and Niku were going to Vegas for Schmidt. Schmidt and Severson are comparable but I am a fan of Severson. Niku was AHL defensman of the year a few years back but fell out of favor with the coaches.
Perreault is useable for NJ for this year.
Poolman is finally healthy and played very well last year- we had high hopes for him but injuries really hurt him. Give him playing time and he will do well.
And a 3rd is still a 3rd

I agree DeMelo isn’t a top pairing dman, he’s a good 2nd pairing guy. I was really hoping to see something big done and I wanted that Schmidt for Niku and Roslovic trade to happen yesterday. I still think Chevy should trade perreault and roslovic for picks and O/S Sergachev.

Normally those two wouldn't be even close to Schmidt in terms of value - it's just that VGK is in dire need of shedding salary.

After Johnsson acquisition, NJ has no need for Perreault whatsoever.

Poolman is a guy Jets shouldn't move. He's relatively cheap.

3rd is a 3rd indeed. But all the latter assets are just meh throw-in that won't change the core problem - the fact that Severson is more valuable than any piece in the exchange and quantity just doesn't mean as much as quality does when it comes to trades.

add Niku to the trade list and if Sergachev would accept an offer sheet from us then offer away. Sergachev and Morrissey would be a great 1st pairing.

I agree, I'm down for trading Roslovic if the return is good like a Schmidt or for decent picks but not to just dump Perreault or for a rental like Martinez or for crappy picks like a measly 3rd.

Sergachev would be great but would he sign an offersheet with the Jets, maybe but realistically idk if he would, would be so worth the picks if he did though.
Also the reality is Chevy just isn't aggressive enough to do an offersheet who are we kidding.. 😃

Yes heinola is more valuable than that. The issue is whether or not they feel an O/S is a threat. If Chevy was a good gm he’d say okay, either you take my deal with heinola + 1st or I O/S him 6x7m and hope he signs it. If Tampa matches, then Cirelli is gone and cernak too. No one took Johnson and he was on waivers.... the whole league knows how much of a bad spot they’re in. No one is doing them favours.
