Yeah because the Leafs has the money to bring the guy in...nope.

My guess is that NYI will retain 15% of his salary ($900k) and add Bellows+2nd as a compensation for a team with cap space and dump him there...most likely either OTT, DET or NJ since they've the most cap space.

Yeah because the Leafs have the cap space to trade for a pylon making 3 mil.

I'll guess no retention Boychuk+Prospect+2 picks to NJD for MIles Wood. Frees up 3.25M and they get decent middle 6 LW

Seems reasonable to me, although they'd need to shed more cap that $3.25M. They'd need to get as little cap back as possible.

Thinking someone like Carrick could suffice if there's no retention in place.

Obviously Toronto is not your team. I could see one of the penny pinching teams have interest in him if you attach something, he isnt owed a lot of actual money. You are basically looking at a situation similar to Chicago a couple years ago with Bryan Bickell.
