Team: 2016-17 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 23, 2016
Published: Oct. 23, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Teams lack of defense is exposed, and they are bubble team by the deadline. Vatanen for Miller has been discussed, Ducks want Kreider but no dice.

Trade Nash and Klein for future assets, and McIlrath has a future elsewhere, but not here while AV is coach

Nash could end up in San Jose, that team would have the best top 9 in the league by far

No way you take wingles a second and a third from sj for nash. Nash has little too no value with the way he plays and his contract. Would have better luck trading david clarkson.

Wingels is a 4th liner signed for a high amount of money. This is a steal for San Jose. They'd have the best forward corps in the league, Nash would thrive with his buddy Thornton and would have him at a discount for the next two playoff runs.

You also must not watch Nash very often, he's been one of the Rangers better players so far this season, and is a beast defensively.

Little to no value is ridiculous, by the deadline he'll have at least 15-20 goals and probably close to 50 points.

Wouldn't expect any less of a response though from a Penguins fan

With all of those TDL, it looks like you've conceded that Rangers will be non contenders this year, especially the Klein and Nash and Mcillarth deals.

If Rangers get Vatanen, or another top 4 RHD, Klein will get traded. Klein will 100% be exposed in expansion draft if we acquire a top dman, might as well get a 2nd + for him.

So what, if Klein is exposed in the draft, he likely won't be selected. He only has one year left in his contract, and the Vegas may be trying to build a team instead of taking 30 one and done players.
If Klein is any good,(which I think he is) why wouldn't the Rangers want him on this seasons team for a Cup run? Vatanen, as you suggest, Klein, Girardi and Clendening seem like a good right side D.

This lineup is under the assumption they are out of the playoffs, or more likely going to be out. They're not legit contenders with the D constructed as it is. Need to drop Girardi and pick up another RHD. Maybe Shattenkirk but he would need to drop his price considerably

That's for clarifying your thoughts about the Rangers "are out of it by TDL." Before the season I thought the Rangers would be a non playoff team (along with Detroit). So far both teams have played well.
If the thought the Rangers they "were" out of it, maybe there is no need to trade assets for Vatanen. Trade the handy Klein at TDL as you suggest and then there might be money for a guy like Shattenkirk next summer.
