How are people calling this a good contract? He has topped 50 points once and that was 5 years ago. His analytics are okay, but with that production he's a 3rd line guy.

I think he's a good player and I'd like to have him. But he's not 4x4,25 good.

Montreal need goal scoring, we've got a ton of playmaker on the team but need someone to put the damn puck in. 108 goals in the last five seasons, that's what Toffoli brings to Montreal, that's what's needed in Montreal, stable secondary scoring.

I guess this makes up for the Anderson contract somewhat. It's surprising Toffoli got so much less than a guy who scored 1 goal last year

Yep, the lone wolf that hasn't gotten better yet is the Florida state (TB and FLA)
Boston got Craig Smith
Detroit got their goalie and couple low key signings that could help them be better
Buffalo got Hall and Eakin
Montreal got Allen, Edmundson, Anderson and now Toffoli.
Though FA for TML but with Brodie and Bogosian at least you've helped your RD..

Wow. I had him at 5.5x5. Crazy that he's sign for less than he was making before. He's never been a greedy player though.

This is infuriating.. What the hell is Jim Benning doing? Hes literally made the team worse in every single position.

Who's gonna dish him the puck? He looked great in Vancouver because he played with a near-generational talent in Pettersson. The Habs just traded their best playmaker for a guy who's job is to crash and bang in goals.

The team had almost non-existent goal scoring ability, mostly playmaking types. Stop with the hate.

The fact that you value Domi as being a much better playmaker than Suzuki and Kotkaniemi is appaling.

I didn't think this was gonna happen. I like the dollar value but He isn't a good shooter and it seems like bergevin has a fetish or something for people with bad shots. We just add and add to the number of bad shooters. If it was someone who could score or a pp specialist like Hoffman for this dollar value then that would be fine but I just don't like how his shot is bad

Don't bother with this guy. He is just a butthurt Leafs fan.
It's pretty telling when the only people saying this is bad are Leafs fans.

When he played with a good Vancouver team he was point per game

Toffoli is a superior player in all other aspects than PP

This is a very good signing. One thing Habs fans should look for: we used to put him out for the last shift on the PK because he was frequently dangerous on that transition as the perpetrator came out of the box.

Literally the comment before yours is a Habs fan who has questions about this signing.

Although I think MTL got better today no doubt.

Third liners don't score 20 goals.

Who is quite off thinking Hoffman would be better.

Ya this surprised me big time. I had no idea they were even in on him. I can't believe Van let him walk

compared to Hoffman yes. But we need someone with a good shot and Toffoli doesn't provide that. Hopefully we get kovalchuk as he can be the answer for us

So you're telling me guys like Cody Eakin and Frank Vatrano are top-6 players? Well I'll be damned.

Full disclaimer I'm not as big on Toffoli as others. With that, his 5v5 production over the last 3 years is on par with Craig Smith who gets less TOI and signed for $1.2 million less.

To be honest I don't care what the shot looks like, as long as while you're on the ice you score more goals than the other team smile and Toffoli over his career has done that.

The only way Vancouver's 2020 free agency makes sense is that Jim Benning is stranded in the woods of British Columbia without cell service. I simply cannot believe he couldn't make this work for the Canucks.
