What "potential"? The dude is 28, he is what he is. I know the value in playdriving numbers but when they don't translate to the scoresheet at some point, something's got to give. It's the same as Drouin. Do I think he's a good player? Yeah, sure, but somewhat underwhelming.

Oh and I'm 100000% not mad we didn't get him, wing is the least of our issues.

By potential I mean his ceiling in the right environments like in Vancouver or LA back 2015. I understand that Montreal is not Vancouver but the Habs will utilize him to his fullest potential because we lack a true scorer. He will be given more opportunities in Montreal than in Vancouver. When he was given more spotlight in LA he shined. Thats his true potential and I think there is a chance that he could reach that in Montreal.

To be honest I don't care what the shot looks like, as long as while you're on the ice you score more goals than the other team smile and Toffoli over his career has done that.

he hasn't lmao he can't finish. He drives the play well but we cant finish. I am willing to bet than we put up 35-40 shots a game but we still lose bc no one including toffoli can score

Montreal just made a Smart Deal. Very good VALUE Signing. I thought he would only sign a one year deal and wait to get paid later but this was really smart when you think of it by the Canadiens. A scoring RW under 5 million.

Montreal is officially a 1-Year all or nothing team.

All these guys need contracts before next year:

1. Kotkaniemi
2. Gallagher
3. Danault
4. Tatar
5. Armia
6. Lehkonen
7. Hudon
8. Mete
9. Backup

While these guys are hoarding all the money:

$10,500,000 = Price
- $8,000,000 = Weber
- $6,200,000 = Petry
- $5,500,000 = Drouin
- $5,500,000 = Anderson
- $4,200,000 = Toffoli
- $3,500,000 = Edmundson
- $3,500,000 = Chiarot
- $3,500,000 = Byron
- $2,000,000 = Kulak
- $2,000,000 = Alzner (BO)

So that's $54,500,000 committed to 10 players.
With only $27,000,000 left for the other 14.
With 4 of their 5 best forwards unsigned.

There will be a mass exodus next year.

Montreal need goal scoring, we've got a ton of playmaker on the team but need someone to put the damn puck in. 108 goals in the last five seasons, that's what Toffoli brings to Montreal, that's what's needed in Montreal, stable secondary scoring.

Yep, the lone wolf that hasn't gotten better yet is the Florida state (TB and FLA)
Boston got Craig Smith
Detroit got their goalie and couple low key signings that could help them be better
Buffalo got Hall and Eakin
Montreal got Allen, Edmundson, Anderson and now Toffoli.
Though FA for TML but with Brodie and Bogosian at least you've helped your RD..

Toffoli has a bad shot lmao and Allen, Edmundson, and Anderson are bad deals. Dell is worth 2-2.5 mill, if you wanted a 6/7th dman then get Ouellet who is worth so much less, and if you want a bottom 6 forward then get literally anyone else as they won't think about wanting 5.5 mill for 7 yrs

IT'S NOT THAT BAD

Tatar is gone. Ok. Good thing we just replaced him with Toffoli, who's is better (offensively and defensively), younger and cheaper.

And one of Byron, Armia, Edmundson OR Lehkonen will be picked up by Seattle.

The only MASS EXODUS here is your common sense.

I do see positive things in life but there is literally no upside or good to signing a bunch of depth players for High amounts of money, Now we will have what now 27 mill to re sign a bunch of top names so basically we are going to have lost good players because we are going to spend way too much on depth players

The team you reference is very unrealistic and quite bad TBH:

Kotkaniemi won't be a top 6 center if he only earns a $3,000,000 extension.
Suzuki projected as your number 1 center is also quite a bit premature.

Toffoli is not better offensively:

Toffoli just finished 34 + 44 point seasons.
Tatar just finished 58 + 61 point seasons.

None of the players that need to be resigned is or will be a superstars maybe exept KK but he's going to sign a transition one probably. What does that mean? Gallagher will most likely be the highest paid among these at around 6m. If you look closely at it we can afford them all pretty much. Montreal has no superstars but a lot of good players. We're not Buffalo or crazy Toronto team with 10+m players period.

This is more than I thought anyone would spend on Toffoli (just due to the cap situation), and the four years is okay, but he isnt the fastest guy out there- and the game is more speed orientated than ever, anything longer than 4 years- is dicey.

Ehh...out of those moves only ones I would've done were bringing Toffoli and Romanov in. Anderson signing and trade was a bust for what we've seen thus far, paying for assets like Edmundson or Allen wasn't really necessary since there were other options available in the free agency, and well the rest of the players leaving the team we're vets with their contracts expiring, so nothing much done by Bergevin there...

I see so you're saying that Kulak is a top 4 dman? And that Allen is worst than what a Thomas Greiss?? That's pretty dumb to think that. We need both of them and there wasn't any other really valuable options oit there. As for Anderson he's going to explode with a guy like Suzuki. MTL really needed that type of player. None of our top 9 forwards are above 29 tho and that's pretty unbelievable given that we didn't really have any high picks except for KK

I'm not saying that Kulak is a TOP4 D. Neither is Edmundson though. What I'm saying is that Edmundson isn't a clear upgrade on the 4 NHL level LHDs you already had (Chiarot, Romanov, Mete, Kulak). He belongs to the same niche as these players do.

Allen and Greiss are more or less equal.

Anderson exploding with a guy like Suzuki is a huge claim considering his last year. Granted it was injury riddled, but the year before that he needed Panarin in order to flourish. He's a very big question mark with a huge contract that might turn out into one of the worst in the league...at least with Domi there weren't that kind of risk.

Probably my favorite UFA signing thus far. This probably sets a more realistic bar for Dadonov and Hoffman than the Hall contract, imo.

A backup coming from a .927 season, a one year remote 27 goal scorer that had an injury this past season (That's what people means when talking about a buy low canditate), a 25 goal scorer when he's not in a dumpster fire team winger and another buy low candidate that didn't fit in Carolina to bolster our left side defense.
True, I should ask more from my GM.

PS: People should remember that Tatar trade, he didn't fit in Vegas and exploded here. That's what the scouts and assistants are paid to track.

Allen is a risk and will be at best a good backup and at worst as bad as Lindgren, Anderson is an injury prone bottom 6 winger who will probably never put up more than 35 games and will rarely play a full 82, and Edmundson is a 6/7th dman who is worth 1-2 mill and he is horrible at everything and is a liability. I always knew Tatar was good and I just don't believe that will ever happen to Anderson or Edmundson. and getting another bottom pair d doesn't all a sudden bolster up our defence.

Oh obviously you knew Tatar was good, with two years of hindsight. Keep seeing the glass half empty cause maybe next year we might go ahead and finally trade for McDavid and finally be good!

lmao I am a tatar fan. There was always skill there. However there is no skill in a bottom 6 injury prone player. There is no skill in the 6/7th dman either. We are in a win now mode for how the cap scenario is rn and we aren't even a contender no less seeing it in a glass half empty kind of way is the only logical way to go about it.
