he sucks cheeks. Worst move Lou made as Leafs GM was handing him 4.5M x 7 years. Just awful. Looked promising in year 1 but they rushed him into bigger contract and bigger role than he could handle

TBH I was hoping the Leafs would sign Brassard for $1.2 MIL and Martin for $1.0 contracts for the 4th line with Spezza....

Chabot’s numbers and possession dropped because he was paired with him. With Demelo, they had such good numbers

Oh I know. I have nightmares of the first playoff series against Boston seeing him with Rielly, and even worse, him killing penalties with Hainsey, who at like 38 years old had to carry him

But in all seriousness you think Sweeney is desperate to fill the hole on D though. Boston has confused me this offseason, and I’m not sure he has a plan to fill in the whole of Chara and Krug on D.

Boychuk at 3.5-4 mil is really not bad and honestly compares to some of the D at that money. His age is really the only down side because with how hard he plays he gets injured often and really only plays around 60 games a season.

I'm very on board with bringing in Zaitsev for our bad contracts and a small sweetener. It makes a lot of sense.

Zaitsev and something for Ladd, Hickey, and Mayfield makes sense for both teams.

I know Sens fans won’t agree because they watch him every night, but I can see him not being completely brutal with the isles system. I really liked how he played the first year with the leafs and if we can get 75% of that with the system we have, I am in for it.

2) Lou has a positive history with him
3) Trotz can coach a guy like Zaitsev - someone who has talent but has performed poorly on bad teams
