I'm aware that we're over the cap by $300K but if we didn't retain on Maatta or Saad (or at least not as much) we'd be fine.

Would Hawks consider a CBJ trade:
Kane for Korpisalo, Nyquist, 1st, and Texier?

PS Toffoli got snatched up by Montreal hours ago.
I imagine the Jackets offered him a lot more than the $4m+ he signed for. But who knows.
Nobody freely wants to come to Columbus (except Nyquist).

Me personally no because I grew up with Kane and I want to be able to compete again with him (and Toews/Keith), however, if Bowman managed to piss off him and the other core guys enough and traded them (which isn't out of the realm of possibility) I don't hate that trade but I'm higher than most (I think) on Texier and Korpi. I think if we went full rebuild so long as we could flip Nyquist (who I'm assuming you're moving for cap reasons) it could work.

...That being said I might cry for a month straight if we traded Kane, Toews, and Keith (and holy parenthesis)

I honestly like Korpi over Merzlikens, but I know Jackets plan on keeping Elvis and moving Korpi at some point. Nyquist was Definitely for cap reasons, but I like his two way play. If we get Kane, I would be okay moving Atkinson but the Jackets never would, he is probably an icon, and franchise type guy on small market team. I am very high on both Texier and Foudy, I includes Texier because he is slotted on the wing but can play center. Foudy is a true center, so I wanted to keep him.

They tried to win when they had no business trying to win (17-20).

Now they're trying to rebuild when all the FAs are signing on the cheap, two of their best players had career years AGAIN, they made the playoffs (kinda) for the first time in three years, and they have tons of young talent ready to go.

I, for one, am having a great time with this. Keep it up Stan.

Somewhere I have an armchair GM team from like 2017 saying we should do a two-year rebuild that definitely got s*** on

But yeah can the blues at least begin the year in last place to give me some hope that you won't be good.

In about 3-4 years you'll be happy the blues didn't sign pietrangelo to that huge deal. Vegas is gonna regret it.
