If the B's do not trade De'Brusk for a LD as rumored, then the best option is to attempt to ham-string your strongest opponent with an offer that they will in all liklihood refuse to match. It's a win either way for the B's - either they get their quality LD or they inflict further ham-string damage on Tampa's cap.

What's to lose in making such an offer? If you get your quality LD, then fine. If you don't, then at least you made an attempt to try to improve the team. That's all a fan base wants and should expect. For far too long now, this organization has sat idly by waiting for God only knows. It's time for Sweeney to grow a pair and be proactive and not re-active. Take the initiative for God's sake. The alternative, which is fast becoming the norm for Sweeney, is not an acceptable option. However, in mind's of the Bruins' management , apparently failure is an option.

there's gotta be some gentleman's agreement about offer sheeting right now between the GM's. If we haven't seen an offer sheet yet, I doubt we'll see one. Especially since the flat cap being in effect for 3 years and numerous amount of teams being very tight on money.
