How about Tanev on the 1st line

Description
Since Aston-Reese is gonna be out and the buzzsaw line won't be around to start the year I think they should consider putting Tanev with Sid and Guentzel as the workhorse of that line. I think a big problem with having Sheary on that line is that while Sheary is fast and has some offensive ability he's very weak on the puck due to his size and isn't very useful down low forcing Sid to do the heavy lifting. And considering Sid's age and Guentzel not exactly being a physical presence out there I feel like they should have someone out there who'll be the workhorse on that line. Tanev as we all know is a grinder in every sense of the word. He finished 18th in Selke voting had over 240 hits, he's fast, and he's a pain in the ass to play against. I think Tanev would play the role Hornqvist did on Sid's line a few years ago where he will create chaos in front of the net, win puck battles down low, and do the heavy lifting so that Sid and Jake can have space to make plays. The only downside with Tanev is offensive ability but considering Sheary and Simon weren't exactly all stars I think Tanev deserves a shot. What do you guys think?

I’ve been on board with this idea for awhile. I feel Tanev would fit that line well. It’s a much better option than wasting him on the 4th line with two true 4th liners in ZAR and Blueger. He should have been on the 3rd line at the very least since the day he signed here. Sure that buzzsaw line is good defensively, but I’m sure the line would have been just fine with ZAR-Blueger-Lafferty. Sullivan’s mismanagement of the team cost them last year and it will cost them again this year. The team is headed for another 1st round exit this year if they don’t fix the bottom six. It’s riddled with 4th liners plus Tanev and McCann. Adding Hinostroza or Fast (first names that came to mind. There are others) would have been solid. A 3rd line of Tanev-McCann-Fast/Hino would have been much better than what they have. Signing one of Jankowski/Rodriguez was fine for depth. The other was unnecessary. They can somewhat salvage what they’ve got if they sign Haula or Walmark, but I’m doubting they do. They may add a player for defensive help, but no more forwards.

Panik or Hagelin help? Probably get Panik for free, but Hagelin might cost a 2nd.

Neither player is bad, but I don’t think they are the answer for the pens
