No more tanking? We just picked up Gudbranson...

Ottawa still doesn't have a star... I think they'll be tanking the next couple years.

I don't think they'll be true cup contenders for 4 years when all their bad contracts and buyouts run out.

what does bad contracts have to do with competing when your good players are on ELC. i think we will be a bubble team by 2021-2022

I think Ottawa takes 1-2 more years before being competitive.
They have a very very bright future but have a very small chance of making the playoffs, let alone winning the cup next year.

Take the next 1-2 years to stock up even more on prospects, and then be competitive.

Next year’s draft seems to be more defensemen than forwards so Sergachev wouldn’t be needed here. Especially already having Chabot, Sanderson, Lajoe, Brannstrom, Bernard-Docker, Thompson, etc...
Maybe even grab Owen Power next year and have a future with Chabot, Sanderson, Power - Brannstrom, Bernard-Docker, Thompson.
Or grab Brandt Clarke and switch Brannstrom back to the left side for a future of Chabot, Sanderson, Brannstrom - Clarke, Bernard-Docker, Thompson.
Either way Ottawa’s future D-core might just be the best one out there, and their forwards are also very good. Give it a few years and I bet the Sens can win a cup within the next 10 years.

with sanderson getting sergy is dumb(no offense)...they should target Cirelli instead as i think Tampa would be more willing to trade him than sergy as they have Stamkos and Point as 1-2 centers,

You need a mix of good veterans and good young players to win the cup. I'm not talking about being on the bubble, Ottawa can do that if they make these aggressive trades. But to be true cup contenders you can't have that many bad contracts.

Right now the Sens have no star players. We have guys that may be stars in the future.

Chabot and Tkachuk are star players. Stutzle is very likely To be. Batherson, Norris, Brannstrom and Sanderson can be those as well

Tkachuk is as much of a star player as Nylander is. That's not really a true star like Stamkos, Hedman, Pietrangelo, O'Rielly...

He may be that kind of a star one day but not right now for sure.
