2nd is a little steep for Virtanen. Maybe if he was on a cheap deal. A 4th or 5th is probably what the market would bear with contract uncertainty.

This is really quite superb just a few minor qualms:

Why not unload TP as Virtanen is younger, RFA, etc.

With the 2022 draft looking incredible and this team being a bad Demko season (I assume Holtby is just going to keep being bad) away from the lottery...

Fun attempt but there would be no way of signing Quinn and Petey the following yr. Canucks fans just need to chill. We have a good team, we need to move money out to do anything but we have our core in place. 2021 won't be the yr we are cup contenders so we shouldn't be wasting future cap space.

I agree a 2nd for Virtanen may be a little steep.. The Tanner Pearson idea is interesting.. I feel Jake is so inconsistent though and can be quite ineffective defensively hence why I lean toward Pearson over Virtanen. And this was more of a fun take yes.. I am aware of both those contracts and technically there is room on this proposal but it would be VERY tight. I'm not sure I could ever swallow surrendering such high draft picks due to Eriksson's garbage play just to create cap space anyway.
I do sincerely hope an offer sheet or some sort of trade can be made for Cernak

Hoffman signed to 1 year with Edler/Pearson expiring would be about the cap space needed and Perry/Motte could be replaced for league minimum

Don't get me wrong Benning certainly made it tough

Man that Holtby deal... when Demko is ready no less

Just add that up though. Edler 6, Pearson 3.75, Hoffman 4. You are at just under 14 mil but you also have to replace the players that are outgoing. Even if it was league min contracts at 1 mil that eats up 3. So you have 11 mil to sign Petey and Quinn. Which one are you letting walk?
