I like Weegar but Boston seems to be hot on him so probably cost more. Plus we’d have to protect 4 defensemen heading into the expansion draft, which I really don’t have an issue with.

There’s no reason to make Zegras a healthy scratch ever. Let him develop in SD if he doesn’t make opening night, he’s waiver exempt.

Given that Nate Schmidt was traded to a division rival for peanuts, I doubt that. If anything he’s worth less.

Not really a comparable. Schmidt costs nearly $6m (which was taken on in full) and they needed to trade him (or somebody else) to make room for Pietrangelo, which everybody knew. They had no leverage.

I don't think Weegar will get quite as much as people on here think if he gets traded, but he's certainly worth more than this.
