Tough decisions ahead

Description
Trading the heart and sole of the Canadiens was un-thinkable a week ago, makes me sick just thinking about it.....but, one has to look at this possibility with logical thought.
Brendan plays an in your face game and puts his body in harms way consistently. One has to consider the wear and tear on his body and when the inevitable drop off will hit. His trade value at the moment is not at an all time high because he only has one year remaining. A first round pick, plus a prospect, and a roster player is the minimum I would even consider.

Trading him to Vancouver gets him out of the eastern conference so you only have to face him twice a year.

Montreal side:
Vasily Podkolzin is really the center piece of the trade.
Jake Virtanen has been very inconsistent, he is a place holder and may only play one season with Montreal. Although, maybe a change of teams will help him achieve some of his potential.
2021 1st round will most likely be a mid to late first round pick, no sure thing in a weak draft.

Vancouver side:
What is there to say, they will get a home town boy that will kick and drag his team mates into the battle. Will score 25-30 goals and is a leader in the dressing room.

Byron to Ottawa makes some sense where they need to get to the cap floor and also need NHL players in their line up. He is also a local boy. Brook is a sweetener to take the full cap hit.

Granlund gets a 2 year contract, could be a nice fit along side KK

No look at what Coleman got at the tdl... Gally is way better than him and a top 10 rw in the league especially when you consider the intangibles

No way MB moves him for anything less. Probably gets even more at the TDL if you really think you are going to loose him to UFA

Coleman had two years left...also it was a huge risk by Brisebois, he moved a huge price in order to bet his team for a cup...and it worked. Not something that VAN is even close to achieve.

TOP 10 RW IN THE LEAGUE? Can I get some of whatever you're smoking? And yeah, we all know the Coleman trade was an overpay, but A) he had an extremely affordable cap hit, B) filled a need for the Lightning, and C) wasn't an expiring contract.

To the contrary, he gets less since it’s an expiring deal At the deadline. TDL is changing and firsts Plus major prospects don’t get tossed out anymore. You might get a 1st and a A-/B+ prospect now and a roster player. But come TDL it’ll be less. Unless you get someone desperate but GM’s are more calculated Than to pay that obnoxious price.
