Answer is because extension talks have broken off between MB and Gallagher's camp. The millions of morons out in the world automatically assume this means that Gallagher is on the market. Media m9r9ns suggest it so that they can get more readers. Other teams fans think it must mean Gallagher is unhappy and wants out of Montreal. Montreal fans think it must mean he is either being greedy or MB is severely lowballing him. The truth of the matter is probably some combination of MB trying to get the best possible deal for the team and Gally's group try I g to get the best possible deal for him. I assume MB would like a 5 year deal at around 6 Mil and Gally's side wants a 7 or 8 year deal closer to 7 Mil. A deal will be hashed out most likely as these things usually do get resolved. I just hope MB doesn't try and strongarm Gally like he did with Markov and Radulov cause that one worked out so well also.

Exactly! There is approximately a year left to resign Gally before he hits FA. MB knows he can't let this negotiation get to the regular season cause if it does and Gally puts up another 30 goal season he will be asking for 8+ Mil on an 8 year deal. Gally also know MB cannot risk that so Gally's side breaks off negotiations now and let's MB stew for a week or two then comes back to the table and says either sign me now before the season or wait until after cause I am n9t going to negotiate during the season and have that distraction. That should get the ball rolling fast cause like I said MB cannot wait until Gally has another 30 goal seas9n and the Habs have a solid playoff run.
