The only way Seattle takes on that contract is with the 2nd from the Tampa trade. We would need to discuss this with them prior to making the trade.

I also want to say that the worst trade for us is the PIT trade. No reason to trade him, especially if he contract rumor is true, playing him ~3 million to be a 3rd C for two years is a great deal, and he fits our rebuild timeline.

I’d be fine with that. Even if we held onto him, we have room for him and he’s serviceable. But honestly, I don’t think Johnson should have to cost a 2nd. A 3rd maybe, but the guy can still play. Not to mention his buyout isn’t the worst for a guy on 5 mil.

Still really don't get the Strome trade.

Sorry, just read your addition to that comment.

I disagree honestly. I don’t care if he’s making 3 mil or less, there’s really no place left in the team for strome. Signing Wallmark makes him expendable. I know that’s saying a lot considering strome’s scoring, but he doesn’t do anything else. Wallmark will never play wing, and strome CANNOT play wing. Mix that with Kampf being the perfect 4C, where does strome go? He can bring in good return. That Pittsburgh return is not bad.

You guys don’t have 3 mil? Jesus....

Also, I love seeing how Pitt fans react to this as opposed to hawks fans 🤣

There are hawks fans who not only think he’s worth this, but think the hawks would lose this trade.

It’s kind of two schools of thought. I totally agree 2 2nds is a little extreme and I shoulda just put the one in. But the biggest disagreement would be around strome vs poulin. One side will strome is young and has already shown himself as a proven NHLer while poulin hasn’t done a thing. Then there’s the other side (like me honestly) who loves growing from within and sees poulin, while still not a sure thing, as being right on track to make a difference for the pens.

I will honestly say though, I think the pens are set at wing and they could use a 2C/3C in strome while the hawks could definitely use a guy like poulin.

Like the idea of it, except the Strome trade, he needs to stay, but I feel Stan will trade him to piss off DeBrincat...

Zack Smith is a no go anywhere but LTIR, he is still recovering from back surgery hence why no buyout.

Strome very well could be a waste of a trade, I admit that. The only problem is what I outlined in an earlier response. Wallmark is gonna be 3C, or at least should be, and kampf is a great 4C. That leaves strome kinda out of the equation, as he doesn’t play wing with any sort of competence. That is, unless the hawks would actually choose to put Dach on the wing, which I’m actually a fan of.

I like the idea of Dach on the wing! Solves the too many Centers. Maybe try Toews-Dach-Kane?

I won’t lie, all hawks fans know I’m not a big fan of Dach, but if he were used on wing I’d love it. Dach could be exactly like another mark stone with his defensive skills and hopefully get 60ish points a year at his peak.

Toews Dach Kane might be alittle too loaded, especially since kubalik and toews are phenomenal together.

I just changed my line up a bit... I kinda like it, if you see the third line that used to be a first line some years ago on another team that brought home another cup...

Not bad, definitely get a hossa vibe on that first line. I don’t think Dach is ever gonna be a goal scorer in the vein of hossa, but he would be wicked effective.

i agree with you... but if i have to be completely honest you hope to find a better talent then strome from a 1st round pick... it's obviously not easy, busts are frequent (i.e. maata, pouliot...) but i really hope poulin can become a much better player and the fact that he didn't do anything yet means also that we can have more hope on him
