Bring Galley home

Created by: Okthenbyebyenow
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 12, 2020
Published: Oct. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I love Yamo and he has the potential to be at Gallagher’s level someday but Galley is a difference maker now. If he’s available then Holland should be all in trying to get him in a deal. This deal leaves the Oilers with enough cap space to fit Klefbom if or when he returns, or to sign another LHD

that won't do it.

Montreal gives the better forward, and surprisingly the better defenseman too, and in exchange they get what should be a late 1st rd?

Pool-party and a 1st might get it done.

keep Russel.

He was born and raised in Edmonton. WDYM?

Edit: So apparently he moved to BC when he was 12. But I’m pretty sure he was an Oilers fan growing up.

Ouch that’s steep. I’d do that too but the Oilers would need a D prospect in return. Oilers need cap space to make Gallagher fit.

True. He played junior in Vancouver so kinda raised there as well for a large part of his growing up. And spends offseasons in Vancouver. So I guess Edmonton is where is "from" but I would almost consider Vancouver "home". Have to ask him directly I guess.

I looked into it, and he moved to BC when he was 12, since his father worked for the Giants. But I’m pretty sure that he did grow up as an Oilers fan.

TSN is claiming otherwise at the moment. Mind you those reports change all the time. but currently, it sounds like a possibility.

Depends. If he scores 40+ goals then $6.5 to 7M? Hard to say but Oilers have cap space next year

Are you talking about this:
https://www.tsn.ca/insider-trading-brendan-gallagher-s-future-in-montreal-has-taken-a-sudden-turn-1.1538488?tsn-amp
Dreger literally said that people are speculating that Gallagher could be moved. Which pretty much sums up the mindset of idiots in TSN and this website who can’t think for themselves and create trade rumours about anyone.
Any competent person that knows the habs and Brendan Gallagher know that they would never consider moving him.

TSN is known for making up BS speculation about minuscule things because they want to get as much press as they can get since they’re the worse of the 2 national sports networks in Canada.

Does either team want to do this??? Edmonton does not want to give up Yam as he was point per game last season, and he's cost controlled for a while. Plus the sky's the limit for Yamamoto. And Montreal doesn't want to give up the heart and soul of their team for someone with limited NHL experience, nor do they want to take a cap dump.

Why on earth would you give up on Yam?
Nuge-Drai-Yam is arguably our best trio.

This is absolutely NUTS for a 1-year rental. Not a chance Holland does this, not unless he's looking to get fired immediately.

I know, I hear ya but this takes the team to the next level. Guess it depends if Puljujarvi is a top 6 forward

Sparks a whole new debate but I can't stand the sportsnet crew. You have mr. SJW ron maclean running the show. Kypreos is about as knowledgable as a preschooler. Elliotte and CJ are the only two sportsnet employees I can stomach listening to. Bieksa was a nice add. But man I disagree. Bob Macenzie is THE legend of hockey reporting. Dreger is an idiot tho I will agree with you there.

An extension would have to be part of it. Not looking at it as a rental

I dont know man, I would rather have Yam than Gally, especially when he's a FA this year. Same-ish type of player, only Yam is less a pest. Also have Lavoie starting to push in addition to Pulju.

Highly doubt it, Montreal alrdy has undersized 5'7 Caufield waiting in the wings, we don't have room for another 5'8 RW on the future roster... If they were looking to trade Gallagher to EDM, my guess is starting point wld be Holloway + a pick

Kypreos was fired a year ago.

I love Bob McKenzie & Pierre LeBrun. (Ditto for Friedman & Johnston) The employees aren’t that much different in terms of preferences now, but my preference for Sportsnet is probably more of a design thing, because their website/app and overall TV presentation (nationally at least) is a significant amount behind Sportsnet.

Holland sees the text and deletes your number. Plus, ya'll got a Lucic contract on that boy. Now, he'll be absolutely fantastic for 3, maybe 4 years of that deal but as for the back half? YEEEEESHH!

Bergie playing with the salary cap off or something?

What are you even on lmao "yeeeesh" for a contract that is maybeeeee 500k overpaid? smh By the back end of his contract, the 6.5 is going to be the mean of the league...

You forget that he's 29 and a half when he starts that contract, has a history of injury because of how he plays coupled with his lack of size.

So as I said years 3, maybe 4? Alright, pretty decent. 33-1/2 year old making 6.5M. Here's hoping his skating doesn't decline or his play doesn't taper off, or he gets another injury though, right?

You gave him the raise because he's a bulldog who runs after the puck and fights for it, getting beaten and bloodied at times but everyone respects him for it I get it. If he takes that facet of his game out (to preserve his health), then what was the point of the huge extension?
