No 65 point winger is getting less than 6.5 mil

Who’s a 65 point winger? Certainly not Gallagher.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Gallagher. He brings a lot more than just points. But if he hasn’t done it yet you can’t really call him one.

I didn't call him a 65 point winger. The guy I quoted believes 6.5 mil is an overpay for a 65 point winger, and whether Gallagher is one or not, that's not true.

And even if he's not a 65 point player, 6.5 mil is still the right price for a 30 goal scorer

Too much money imo. He’s at best a 65 point winger imo. At best.

54 point career high = Gallagher (8 seasons)
53 point career high = Drouin (6 seasons)
47 point career high = Anderson (6 seasons)

18 million dollars

So comes with a modified NTC as well (not that it will be needed at all):

Seattle could take him possibly if he hadn't gotten one of those...

Gallagher is still really good, but it's kind of awkward being a Montreal right wing at the moment - there's like 12 of you

Armia doesn't come back unless he takes a serious discount

I'm not sure he is going to score as much with 2 new RW players in is way

I don't think they are going to break up the Tatar-Danault-Gallagher line. At worst he will be the 2RW

Over freaking paid.

He's a 30 goal scorer with some of the best advanced analytics in the league. Try another take

Top 10 you crazy

He's probably around 15-20.

Puts up some of the best advanced numbers in the league. He's definitely top 10.

Why on earth would we want Seattle to take him for nothing? No thanks

I can't believe he agrees to this as a UFA when Anderson with about 1/2 the production just got about 18% less for 1 more year.

****ty negotiation on his part

Anderson brings a completely different game than Gallagher. Anderson isn't here to score points, but he's going to. Gallagher is here to score points, but does it in a different way than the rest of the team.

Honest question: Does Bergevin plan on taking a 2 year hiatus or something? Why is he signing everybody to extensions?

Every ACGM involving the Habs from the past 24 hours is now outdated. Thanks Bergie.

I wonder if he sat at his computer with Gally scrolling through ACGM saying, "Should you tell them or should I..."

You missed the playoffs 4-5 years ... that's all that matters for MTL all the moment.

Well next offseason was supposed to be so busy, with the expansion draft and all the ending contracts, I guess he thought it would be best to get most of his business done now so that there isn’t too much to do in a short time period.

Which makes sense considering they still need to sign: KK, Claude Julien, Cale Fleury, Ryan Poehling, Phillip Danault, Artturi Lehkonen, Victor Mete, and a bunch of others, in addition to dealing with the expansion draft.

Landeskog is a year younger and puts up more assists. I’d expect him to get a bit higher $ at a contract that’s a year or 2 longer.

3/5 and yes you are correct, That doesn't mean the only thing we care about is regular season points. Gallagher's type of play is needed in the playoffs, just look at this year,

They're both there to score goals. Gallagher has been a top 10 RW goal scorer with every year being significantly above anderson while being one of the top two way and defensive wingers in the entire league. Anderson hits more and is more physical but is almost certainly not as good defensively simply because Gallagher is great
