It's Perreault's contract we want to get rid of not necessarily him. 4M can be use more efficiently than extending it to Gardiner for two more years. And we are looking for a true top4.

I think the canes would consider that. Not really sure where Perreault would fit in but it gets money off the books sooner

Gardnier would be an upgrade, but with 3 more years left on his contract I think he would just block Heinola and Samberg.

Yeah but Seattle would probably take him. Or we could pay them to if we had to

For sure, but he does have a NTC that he would have to waive for this deal and to be exposed. Plus he has an injury history that could muck things up.
Just sign Vatanen haha, two years 3-4 AAV. I know he has an injury history too, but it would be for cheaper and less years with no trade/movement stipulations (ideally)
