No thanks on either Johnson or Killorn, DET isn't spending up to the cap. Ownership wouldn't allow it.

Put Zetterberg on LTIR and you are not spending up to the cap. Bought out Nielsen next year.

Yeah with Z on LTIR this would give us about $6.3 mil in cap space which is a lot better then $213,000 in cap space. Buy out of Nielsem next summer would be better then a potential buy out in the next few days would rather have 2 years of dead money then 4 years of dead money on the books.

I don't think ownership would stop DET from spending to the cap, but this isn't how they are going to do it (or even do it at all, in Yzerman we trust).

LCA needs to be filled, and a winning team is the only way to do it. This still isn't a winning team (even with Killorn and Johnson).

But they are better and with so many more contracts coming off the books after 2020-2021 having Johnson and Killorn filling valued roles with young players coming up will be great for a few years since those players will be ELC's. Yzerman can also go and find cheaper 4th line options since his ideal 3rd liners are in place.
