Those ratings look pretty accurate. I think case could be made for Toews to be 85 or 86 tho

tiny sample size for graves, I'd probably have him at 83

makar is fine if you have guys like q hughes, mcavoy, etc at 88-89 as well but personally, id have them all at 87-88

looks good otherwise

med top 6 typically caps at 83-84 so its fair tbh

I love the franchise mode in theory, but I always get turned off by the deterministic nature of these ratings. I wish there'd be a roof for each player, and then just a likelihood distribution of where they end up between where they are and that ceiling. For a guy like MacKinnon it wouldn't move a lot, but for say Burakovsky, there should be possibilities he turns into either an elite sniper or nothing more than he is, or that he has peaked and starts regressing. Toews is probably already a top pairing D, but why can't he move between legit #1 and nothing more than a #4 with the likliest option being a #2? It's very much a binary system if they reach their potential or not, so the game becomes super predictable... Idk, sorry for ranting on your post I guess

Forwards look fine, with them its always how well the actual skills are. For example Bura should have a crazy high shot accuracy stat and Val should have very high defensive oriented ones.

On the D though:
Graves is way too high
EJ is too Low
Toews should be a smidge higher

The worst part about the actual rating system in NHL is that there is very little differentiation between players, no matter what their ratings are anyway.

Yeah... There's never any real hard skill difference. If Ovechkin is a 98 shooter, someone's a 97 etc. Mark Stone is like a 92 stick check or whatever when he's maybe the best ever along with Datsyuk...

Yup. If you play reasonably well, you can beat an NHL team with a CHL team on allstar without breaking a sweat.

I agree. EJ and Toews are underrated. I think Graves would be a bit lower. Burky's got unreal shooting so he might be higher and Val's great two-way.
