Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE LOOKING AT TEAM:

1.) Before you say, "Pietrangelo and Koivu aren't captains anymore", they were until a few days ago so I'm still counting them.

2.) If you don't like the team, then don't comment anything rude about it. If you have nothing nice to say than don't say it. But if you would like to give me some criticism that would be appreciated :).

3.) If you are wondering who is the captain of the captains, here they are
C- Zdeno Chara
A- Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, Alexander Ovechkin

4.) The rest of the players who didn't make the rosters are in scratches.

5.) For goalies, I selected 2 from teams that don't have a captain (and who have been in the league for a while). Lundqvist is only on here because he was a Ranger until a few weeks ago and because he is a veteran.

I wouldn't include Ovi in the top 10 captains, but Weber would be top 5 -- for me, at least.

Ovi is a good captain that doesn’t lead in the traditional way. He gets overlooked for that, remember, Ovi led his team to a championship, something Weber hadn’t done yet. Weber is still a good captain though.

Are the lines done by leadership, or on-ice performance? Because if it's for a game tonight, it'd be tough not to find spots for Eichel, Barkov, and Tavares. But if you're going by whether their teams have overachieved under their leadership, I see why they're on the bench.

i tried my best to balance them, but it was in favor of leadership by a bit

I really like Ovi, but I just don't have him as one of my top captains in the league and don't think that getting a cup as a captain, in and of itself, makes you a good captain (not saying Ovi isn't a good captain either, just not my top 5). If I ranked my top 10 captains from last season (in no particular order), Weber - Landeskog - Chara - Crosby - Toews - Kopitar - Wheeler - Pietrangelo - Foligno - Getzlaf. Then I'd have Giordano / Stamkos / Ovechkin / Koivu all in that next tier, but close. Once you start looking at that 8-15 range, I think a lot of them become more or less interchangeable.

Yeah. Just winning the Cup and the President's Trophy and both MVP awards and the Rocket as captain and winning your division more often than you don't doesn't make you a good captain.

You have to come from Canada. wink

Individual awards don't define a good captain either...

I'm not saying Ovi isn't a good captain. Just not one of my top captains.

Josi won the Norris, President's Trophy, Division, Conference, etc. as the captain of NSH, but I don't even have him in my top 15 captains -- and NSH is my team, and Josi is my favorite player on the team.

I base a captain off their playoff resume. Granted i am biased but Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski are two of the top strictly based off their clutch performances in the second season over the years. Couture is largely underrated but is absolute money in the playoffs.

Pavelski was a fantastic captain - definitely big shoes for Couture to fill. But I like Couture as well and agree he's underrated.
