I don’t think Gibson gets moved any time soon. Unless it’s for a elite power forward

Byram is a nice piece, but Duck fans will want more than that. At least another 1st rounder on top of the package. Not that Gibson is for trade anyways though

Really? Byram is one of the best defence prospect, maybe THE best, in the nhl. I would have thought it was fair.

To put in perspective for another team it would be like ( I’m just using Buffalo as an example )

Cozens
Ulmark
Olofsson
2021 1st

Obviously it’s a ton but trading Gibson is basically trading away our entire team

In other words, since no one is going to pay the ridiculous overpay it would take to get Gibson, he's staying in Anaheim.

We have to remember it’s Joe Sakic, he doesn’t lose trades. Byram is the best defenseman prospect in the NHL and he doesn’t have a spot on the Avs current lineup.

Gibson has a sweet deal, but by the time Anaheim is ready to content 2-3 years they’ll want a top line defenseman like Byram to play with Drysdale. Also you can still have Grub in net by then.

My comment mostly referred to the other parts of the trade, a 5th and 6th do nothing in a trade like this and no one is going out of their way to get jost after the playoff run he just had. If i'm anahiem i'm mostly skeptical about trading a solidified elite goalie for a potential elite d man. I think byram and makar will be a top duo in the nhl in a few years but byram has yet to play a nhl game and wasn't that outstanding in the whl last season. That's why i think anahiem might ant more.

The NHL meta is having a good goalie tandem with each guy making 3-4mil each, rather than having a stud 7mil + guy playing 65games with a fringe backup behind him.

I dont do that trade. Goalies get hurt, wear and tear, they look elite one year than fall off the next.
Build a really solid defence and it probably makes any goalie behind them look really good (regardless of who is in net).
Also no chance Gibson is available.

I think to get Anaheim to even listen it would be more along the lines of :
2 1st rounders
Grubauer
Byrum or Newhook
Bowers or Kaut or Jost
To get a top 5ish goalie that's young, signed to a team friendly deal plus term is going to hurt in cost.

thats a little to much super chief id rather have all that with are current goalie tandam then lose all that for a goalie that could suck for us.
