Personally, Thronton has passed his time being a 3C in the league. I know he has done it as recently as last year but that slows the entire 3rd line down. He is a fantastic piece in the locker room and brings more leadership and much-needed experience but I would not look at putting him, at the age of 41, into a 3C role on a team looking to contend for the cup.

My Only thing is that you cannot put Thornton and Spezza together as they would be too slow together, his mind and passing and faceoffs, i dont think are far off but thats also why i tried putting faster players with him, although be the truth that i dont know about barabanov, but i have heard good thing about him being a 2 way player whos hard on the puck and pretty quick. may make up for the lack of foot speed in jumbo.

Yea that is why I honestly don't see that great of a fit with him in Toronto. Unless him and Spezza rotate and play 40 games each but to be honest, I don't want either of them to be relied upon to play over 15 mins a night

I would love to have Thornton leadership but I dont think he can cut it as C anymore.

Great point. The only problem is playoffs and which one you put in for those. I guess you could just pick whoever is having the better season though, and if they start to struggle you throw in the other. I don't think the 4th line will be above 12 minutes a night though unless there are like a bunch of penalties and you have them on your special teams

I agree as well but when you have 2 first lines that should be at or around 20 mins each it leaves 20 mins to split between 2 lines i dont think you would have any issues with having to give too much ice time.
