Wow. Surprised at the amount of free agents going to bad teams like Detroit and Ottawa, and with Hall going to Buffalo. The flat cap probably has a lot to do with that

Is Melnyk locked in some secret bunker or something WTF is this lul.

I had Dadonov to NJ as I thought he would be a good fit for gusev and Hischer.

Guess Ottawa wanted someone to help that pp get above 15%

I LOVE this for Ottawa. A three year deal doesn't hurt the team much long term, and he's going to go a long way in terms of supporting young talent. Adding a game changer into that mix of young high end talent is such a great idea

Great deal for the Sens. Sucks for Evgenii that he couldn’t get the money he deserves anywhere else. For the Sens sake, hopefully this starts a new era of being willing to spend money.

They let Duclair (younger, probably cheaper and at the same level) go and sign 31-years-old Dadonov? Makes no sence to me...

However, the contract itself looks great to me.

Ain't got much choice ... The ELCs will run out and when it's time to spend some serious money (Like to the other spectrum of the cap) they'll be shipped out.

I'm surprised contender teams like Columbus or Nashville, or even Florida didn't sign him. This doesn't make a lot of sense for the Sens tbh...

This contract better be back loaded... okay... phew...

But seriously... this is a nice pick up.

When I first saw this, I thought the term was gonna be way too long. I'm glad I was wrong.

Man I feel bad for him, Florida couldn't give him 5 mill so he chose to go to the 7th circle of hell known as Ottawa and yes I know by the end of the contract his production will be severely down and yes I know he won't score as well with his line mates in Ottawa compared to Florida's.

Still good for Ottawa for at least trying to compete in the Atlantic division next year.

I’d like to apologize for railing on Dorion the last few years. Ottawa looks good. Playoffs this year, contenders in the next couple years.

I don't know what to say. I'm trying to make sense of this. It's possibly a sign and trade in 2 years. It's pretty much buyout proof, for the Melnyk owned Sens anyway. The only rational I can come up with is Melnyk wants to boost the team value to sell after he gets the expansion payment.
