Good signing I'd say. Also, do you really think Johnson has that much negative value? Maybe he does. Wouldn't be suprised.

No one wanted to pick him up on waivers so i don't think he'll be traded one for one. The retention on the rielly contract also adds value on ottawas side

It's not that he has negative value as a player, per se, it's that the Bolts desperately need to shed his contract so they very well may have to pay someone else to do so.

TB fan. I think Tampa does this if Tyler waives his NTC. It is apparent that teams are not going to help TB out easily. Only suggestion play him at center. He would be playing with two very good wings. He should have a bounce back year 25 goals 25 assists. Center position is valued higher. Then you have a chance of flipping him at the deadline for a very high pick.

I don't know that TB will go quite that far (giving up a 1st) to get rid of TJ and I don't know that Ottawa is on his list of 8 clubs he's willing to go to, but if you maybe change the two picks into Tampa's 2021 2nd, that might fly. That being said, they are desperate to get rid of that contract so maybe something like what you proposed is the price.

Psst. They don't have a 2021 second.

Of course him as a player doesn't have negative value. No player ever does. The contract is always the problem.

Well, there are a few players that can't even play at the NHL level any longer but still have a contract (*cough* Jack Johnson). I'm not talking about them as people but as NHL level players, of course.
