Rest of the Offseason with Dadonov in the Fold

Created by: bbell080
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 15, 2020
Published: Oct. 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Here we go with a team that will finish (calling it now) in 6th last place!

1st Line - White gets first crack at centering Tkachuk and C. Brown. Tough, hard-working line that will put up some points. If White struggles, either of the two young guys should be given the next shot at centering these two.

2nd line - Norris between Stutzle and Dadonov could very well produce a Calder winner. Norris was just rookie of the year in the AHL and Stutzle was just rookie of the year in the DEL. Could one or both put up big points alongside Dadonov, it seems likely.

3rd Line - L. Brown and Batherson try to recreate some magic on this third line and reclamation project Galchenyuk gets a chance to play with two gifted youngsters and revitalize his career.

4th Line - Tierney probably holds the 4C spot most of the time, with Anismov cycling in from time to time. Nick Paul's new contract suggests they see him as an 82-game guy, but I would be surprised to see him above the 4th line until Galchenyuk struggles. Finally speedster Athanasiou gets a chance to show he still has it, and could even move up the depth chart with a strong start.

1st D - Chabot is the top guy, and Gudbranson will be his first partner of the year. Will he be his only partner, probably not, but he'll get the first try.

2nd D - Wolanin and Brannstrom will get a chance to prove they can drive play and that they deserve spots in the future when the team's top prospects start coming up.

3rd D - Some combination of J. Brown, Zaitsev and Reilly will be the 3rd pair.

Goalies - Murray is the 1A for sure, but expect Hogberg to challenge for playing time.

Doubt they play 2 rookies together, they will shelter them. Something like this:
Tkachuk-Norris-Dadonov
Stutzle-White-Batherson
Brown-Tierney-Brown
Paul-Anisimov-Watson
Balcers

too bad J brown is not a LW, could have a brown brown brown line, would be freaking hilarious hearing the game commenters when they are on the ice....

They could still all be on the ice at the same time

I don't see the Sens signing anymore UFAs or making any significant trades. Once they've signed their RFAs they'll have a full group of forwards plus call ups.

Still think we get 1 more forward or 1 more D. Right now they’re counting on Brown, Batherson, Stutzle, Norris all making the team. Something can always go wrong
