Nope Matthews is a superstar. Tavares is slowing down.

JT is still a franchise centre and isn't at all declining. That is just what babies who are desperately wanting the Leafs to fail say. There is literally zero evidence of this just less goals than the year before.

Less goals and much worse defensively. 5 more years at 11 mill and he just turned 30.

Pretty sure his deal ends at 34 and judging by Crosby and Malkin (yes better players but JT is absolutely a superstar in his own right, you are just too bitter to admit it) hes going to still be very good by the end of his contract. As a 2C, still one of the best in the league. He'll have the luxury of having an elite winger in either Marner or Nylander to take the pressure off him. Even if he loses a step, he will be insulated. Getzlaf would still be an elite 2C if he had wingers and a 1C ahead of him. Chirp JT all you want but its clearly just bitterness. I bet you didn't even hate the Leafs before JT scorned you.

Malkin + Crosby aren’t in the same conversation as Tavares. I’d say Tavares is on a similar path as guys like spezza and koipitar , who both became average top 6 centers at around 31-32 years old.

I’d say everything I just said is logical - but you do you!

But none of the 30+ year old Islanders will ever decline and all their contracts are great and the ones that aren't will be easy to move. Why? Because you're logical.

So a cap dump, waiver fodder FWD, and a 5th for Parise?

Wild pass. The $1.5m in extra cap doesn't get MN a better player than Parise is currently.

This would without a doubt blowup immediately. Parise has 5 more years of term and is declining.

Im aware this blows up in his face but like it wouldn’t fit the isles? It’s a a two way street here man can’t expect the isles to take an absolutely horrendous contract for longer term and more cap and cuff themselves terribly for their RFAs

That is exactly what Lou has done though. Signing guys in their 30's to long term contracts knowing full well he has RFA's needing contracts is his MO. He did it in TO with Zaitsev, Marleau and Martin and then did the same in New York. It's what he does and now his bold plan so far seems to he to trade those RFA's. He's so outdated.

Here’s some simple math for you Islander fans to work on. Scratch paper is available upon request.

Garbage + Junk + Trash = _____
Hint: It does NOT = a good hockey player.
