Nate Schmidt was just traded for a 3rd, in what world does Cernak cost that much?

Kerfoot, Holl, and Andersen/Engvall are all vastly overvalued here

The cost of exchanging two years of Darcy Kuemper for one year of Freddie Andersen should be more than a bottom-6 forward, and I would be surprised if the new Arizona GM makes any trades of young core players without getting a 2021 first in return

Devon Toews went for 2 2nds.

The real question is would Chicago and Arizona?? And the answer is not a chance. A 4th center and 3rd goalie. Not what Chicago or Arz need...

a 4th line center and a 3rd goalie? what? Kerfoot is a middle of the road 3C at worst and andersen is a legit starter.

Kerfoot has a nice combo of relative youth & experience. Well rounded C at a 40 point pace every year. How could an asset like that not have value?

Precedent suggests he's at least worth a 2nd rounder

Holl is impressive and Frederik Andersen is Frederik Andersen... career .917 sv% and recent All Star... one meh year and a playoff loss doesn't erase that.

What precedent says he’s worth a 2nd? He’s not even great defensively, which is ideally what you’d want your 3rd line centre to be if he’s not above average offensively, which Kerfoot isn’t. He’s worth a 3rd at best, much less today considering everyone knows Toronto is in cap hell. Holl is not impressive, he couldn’t even crack the Leafs D for years until this season where he was mostly carried by Muzzin. He’s an okay bottom pair defensive defenseman, he’s worth like a 5th at best. Andersen is okay but I’m not sold he’s even a top 20 goalie and if he is, he’s barely in there. I’d argue Kuemper has been a top 5 goalie over the last two seasons, and he’s got a lower cap hit, and 2 years remaining. A meh 4th liner who had a hot streak, earned a contract above 1mil, and then shat the bed the rest of the year isn’t close to making up the difference there.
