This team won't do anything next season, but te silver lining is that they have a lot of big money contracts coming up after next season, so they'll have some $$ to play around with.

I'm still hoping that the NHL reduces the penalty from forfeiture to the 32nd pick.

Nice job, as usual.

I wish people would look at this roster carefully. It should be obvious to even the most obtuse that the only hope of this team's achieving relevance in the next couple of seasons is to hang on to the core (Garland, Dvorak, Keller, Schmaltz, Chychrun, Soderstrom, Kuemper) and continuing to develop through the draft. I'm sick and tired of seeing the vulture trades of one or more of these players for bottom-6 forwards, bottom-pairing defensemen and future seconds just because "Arizona is in financial difficulties." In particular, the Kuemper-for-Andersen-and-Engvall/Dermott/Holl trades have got to stop.

They did that for New Jersey when they took picks away from them for cap circumvention (Kovalchuk deal), but it was only reversed after Kovalchuk walked out on his contract. NJD would have picked #11 (Kevin Fiala). And they are paying Kovy's recapture penalty every year until 2025.

I think that the argument can be made that this is too severe a penalty in the COVID era. It's in the League's interest to keep this team afloat.

The draft pick penalty was given instead of financial penalty (was supposed to be $250,000 per infraction)...so the league has already been quite accommodating to the team.
