Interesting but how do you expect them to re-sign Laine next year?

They don't have to. Make it a 1-year rental, and decide between keeping Stamkos or Laine next year.

Of all the places in North America that Tyler Johnson might waive to, I think Winnipeg is at the very bottom of that list.

He’s not gonna be a Tampa player lol - he’s gonna play somewhere that can fit him rather than be sent down and play in the A

I doubt there's a better offer then this and it's highly unlikely they'll get anything as good as this, think Laine's agent is making it clear to Chevy that he won't be signing long term so if you want to recoup something for him use this time wisely.

Really depressing news, too bad, wonder what the problem is.

It doesn't have to be Johnson. Could be Killorn or Gourde, too.

Nice value from Tampa, but the Jets wouldn't take Johnson without some hefty compensation and they don't need Cirelli anymore.

Cirelli and Sergachev IS hefty compensation. Both make Winnipeg better right now! And the Jets would LOVE Cirelli. He'd be their first true long-term 1/2C option since Scheifele.

I would rather see him get traded now then seeing him getting dealt for a third pairing guy and a pick or leave in UFA. Cirelli would slot in at 2C immediately and the center depth for next year would be very good. Sergachev is pretty much what were hoping Heinola will be, so I don't mind that exchange. I do think Heinola has a decent chance to be a better overall player then Sergachev, but again I wouldn't mind that swap.

Not when Winnipeg is giving up Laine and Heinola. There would need to be something else for taking on Johnson and not filling team needs for Winnipeg.

Depends on the return but the rest of the GM'S know the position Chevy is in so I don't think the return will be very good, considering the window the Jets are in is only really the next 4 years I'd be cool with keeping Laine and letting him walk if they load up and really go for it.

Cirelli and Sergachev have a combined market value, IMO, of about 3 firsts. Laine and Heinola, to me, are worth about 2 firsts combined. To me, that extra first and Little's LTIRetired contract are plenty compensation for Johnson.

It's always better to let a disgruntled player go in my opinion. If we got an offer like this then I would do it rather quickly

You are obviously overvaluing the Tampa players while undervaluing Winnipeg players. Value wise Cirelli, Sergachev, Heinola and Laine are close to a wash, but even if you want to say theTampa players are worth more, you would still need to add in an extra first minimum to move Johnson. Little can be ignored as Winnipeg doesn't need to move him. Plus the only player that fits a team need for Winnipeg is Sergachev. As I said decent value, just notwhat Winnipeg needs if moving Laine.

I get that but I'm just doubting the return will be very good, don't think it'll be as good as this.

yeah probably not. However I really believe it would be for the best to just let it end then following the footsteps of the Trouba situation all over again.

I hear ya, that was a different situation it seems, was a family issue, Chevy really should of traded Troubs sooner, these seem like much different situations to me.
I just see the window as only open for so long, having a weapon like Laine helps, unless Chevy gets some massive haul in return but I don't see it.
