Description
Probably get blown out of the water for this, but I figured I would spitball a offer and see where it goes.
Obviously Laine wants out of Winnipeg. Winnipeg does want Dumba so I think the deal starts around them. Since Laine wants a big pay raise Wild would have to move a big contract. If Wild retain on Zuccarello he could fill Laines spot for Jets. I sent Pionk to help balance the trade a bit salary and talent wise then added Minnesotas 1st since Laine is the best talent in this deal. Like I said just a spitball offer but let's hear some thoughts on it.

I like the groundwork of this deal. I'd consider adding Eriksson-Ek to the package going to WPG.

Yea, a little too favored towards minny. Pionk is very strong and making a name for himself, while laine, albeit inconsistent, is still a marquee at present. Minny might have to add Eriksson ek and another pick.

Keep pionk I put him there to help offset salary. I keep seeing people say add Ek which no way Minnesota does that. So this probably won't work either.

Take out Pionk and it is fair. But Pionk is not a small asset.

Honestly, there's a point here. Dumba is the better defenseman, but Pionk is already equally as valuable in trade. He is younger [edit, I am shocked the difference is only one year... still my following points stand] and already has the tools that Dumba has with more flexibility to keeping him. I don't see any massive improvement in that swap. It's honestly a 1 for 1 in value (I'm a neutral party here).

Zuccarello is a cap dump, but you retained him to a more sufficient salary... still, he's old and regressing. If you are wanting to move him to Winnipeg laterally, Roslovic is the guy to look at.

The first, especially unprotected is nice, but it will never be as high tier as Laine.

why is Ek so internally valuable? I don't see his cap as much higher than a 3rd line center. If he's the difference of an elite scoring right shot winger, I don't see why it is such a major value hurdle.

Pionk has been a train wreck analytically so idk

Granted he had a way better year this season

Anomalous or will he be peaking between 25-33?

And Dumba didn't...it's all about their current value

Its been reported that every team in the NHL has called about Ek. He is young and sound defensively. He hasn't gotten any pp time and it is believed he has more offense to grow. Worst case he is a solid 3c best case a good 2c. The biggest issue is probably the Wild have a lack of center depth, the recent drafting of Rossi has helped but until he is in the NHL you really can't count on him.

In all seriousness this isn't AS bad as everyone is making it out to be but I am sure the Jets would get a package that is a little more enticing to them then that.

Personally, i see Boeser as a better fit for the Wild. Not because he’s one of us, but because i see him as a player less dependent on a dominant center...more of an all-around player...an all-around player who can also score. Laine, even with reports he has improved his all-around game, seems to me like a player who is dependent on PP time and dominant centers to be productive.

JEEK is a shut down center who agitates by strong play and draws penalties instead of taking them. He's a tough guy to replace.

Meh Brock is internally overrated. He can't really create offense on his own - but he also hasn't really been the same player since his rookie year. He works best in a duo definitely, which although he and Fiala could pair right, Brock has even struggled on the top line he is on now. Canucks fans hate me for this, but he's no more than a 2nd line winger

Interesting. I really liked his game against the Wild in the play-in round. He was constantly finding open ice in the offensive zone and put himself in positions to score. Often times, he seemed to be where the puck was going before anyone else knew it was going there. You’ve definitely seen more of him than i have, so I’ll take your word for it.
