Stamkos and Ottawa being competitive

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 16, 2020
Published: Oct. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Stutzle plays overseas year one.

Tampa sheds cap and get a good young right d prospect (which is their number one need), Ottawa gets a number one centre. **picks can be added to even out trade**

This team looks like it would be competitive. Bubble team for sure, depending on how their young guys play.

*Personal disclaimer; I don't think Stammer is going anywhere*

Having said that I think Brannstrom's a nice 1st piece in a deal like this, but TBL would want more.

Why not use Brannstrom as the main piece to try to acquire Sergachev? OTT could definitely use him and he's way more in line with the age bracket of the team's core players.

Yea agreed. Picks could/would need to be added as I stated in the description.

As for Sergy, I agree Ottawa should look at him also. They should look at Cirelli, Sergy and Stamkos. I can see Tampa and Ottawa making a big trade together, soon. For one or multiple of those pieces. In this AGM I focused on Stamkos.

Fair enough, I just think with his age and injury history Stamkos makes a lot less sense for Ottawa. Getting either of the other guys would be an awesome fit though.

Yea, he will be at camp and he may make the team. But I would be very cautious with actually playing him at a young age. He also just had surgery on a broken hand, which decreases his chances. With the roster as listed, unless he is ready to be a star year one, they don't need him.

I think that makes him a perfect candidate. His contract is reasonable. His age and experience would make him very valuable to all the young guys. If he gets injured or long term injured, he is placed on LTIR and Melnyk wouldn't have to pay him (the insurance company would have to). Which would be a bonus financially. So if he plays, he helps out a ton. If he is injured they can benefit from him. He will help take the load off their young studs and help them develop as well. Could be a perfect fit.

Cirelli and Serg would also be great options for Ottawa.

Tkachuk started at 18 on line 2. Stutzle will be the same

He may absolutely make it. But I wouldn't give him a guaranteed spot. He would need to earn it. Actually earn it. Tkachuk earned it.

Would sure like to know the logic/justification why NTC Stamkos leaves his captaincy/Stanley Cup winning team/his home/his parents winter home in Tampa for Ottawa.
