Initial Creation Date: Oct. 16, 2020
Published: Oct. 16, 2020

Description
Important part in moving Kerfoot in this scenario is no cap back, could see him fetching a 3rd rounder plus but didnt want to argue so took less.

Grandlund takes 1 year show me deal due to the dry market.

I don't think Kerfoot is getting traded.

Holl might be the odd man out, especially if Dermott is projected to play on the right side.

Won't the Wings and Grandlund by better off, if he signed a 3m with the Wings? For the life or me I don't know why Leafs fans think Joey Anderson is an NHer.

We don't actually know what Joey Anderson is. Many insiders believe that the Leafs actually see him as a potential bottom-six winger that can play as soon as this season. Why else would the Leafs have traded for him? They had other deals on the table involving draft picks...

Cause they were dumping Cap.....Johnsson was late 2nd early 3rd value....if you dumping you need to agree for less cause thats what opposite Team in trade will do....so instead of agreeing to late 3rd or early 4th that you were offered....Dubarelli agreed to mid 3rd in shape of Anderson. Ofc now he will wear Blue and White and hes already conidered another steal......same as homers are mentioning Holl and Parayko in same sentence.....i mean....

No one is considering him a steal... If they are they shouldn't be. But the reason Anderson was picked up was the same reason the Leafs signed Vesey, Barabanov, Lehtonen. Because they are lottery tickets. They all look like they have the potential to flourish in Toronto's system. If they do, they're steals and if they don't, they're just buriable cap hits.

From what we have seen from this Leafs front office is that they are not afraid to use draft picks in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds to try and stock up their cupboards. I'm sure they think they have a depth option in Anderson because if not I see Johnson's return including a 3rd or 4th

Not sure Granlund signs for that number but if he does, sure I'd take that. Alot of signing another player depends on what happens with Dermott, Mikheyev, Holl and/or Kerfoot.

I like this. Not sure if we could get Granlund for that but it would be a great move if possible. What about trading Holl for a 7th and sign Hamonic for say 2.5? He'd be an upgrade over Holl and with him still being available I can't see him costing more than that, also, he would get a chance to compete for the cup. What say you?

That's my thinking on Granlund too, but it would be a hell of a move by Dubas if he could pull it off. Would you take Hamonic over Holl?

That's a tough question. Harmonic was not good defensively according to Calgary fans and that's why I'd be concerned.

I'm leaning towards no.

Fair enough, I think he's better defensively but that just my opinion. I like him over Holl because he has more NHL experience which would help come playoff time, but more importantly, I feel more comfortable with him away from Muzzin than I do Holl.

Now with Mikheyev signed, there is very little left that can be done.

I think Leafs are done making moves but still Dermott signed and Joey Anderson.

Do you think NHL will allow teams to have taxi squads that will allow them past the cap as long as team is cap compliant with a 20 man roster???

I get it's likely not to happen, but I'd personally rather have Hamonic over Holl because I trust him more than Holl away from Muzzin and he has more experience than Holl which I think would come in handy in the playoffs IMO. At this point in the offseason maybe he'd sign a 1 year $2million deal to play for a contender and try again next offseason?

CJ mentioned on SDP that the league is considering having AHL teams travel with their NHL team to allow them to play this year and for "transactions". The example he used was if the leafs were playing the Canucks in Vancouver the Marlies would travel with them to take on the commits who would play in Vancouver this year, one would be a day game and the other at night. He also said it's likely that the NHL implements an all Canadian division due to the travel restraints the Canadian government has put in place.

What do you think about an all Canadian division and AHL teams travelling with their NHL teams?

Dont like the Canadian division ides but like AHL affiliate travelling with NHL club if AHL season is only viable this way.

Hamonic is more likely to sit out entirely instead of taking 2 million.

Holl is solid defensively and is underrated.

Same here but according to Chris Johnston it's what we might be looking at.

Why would he sit? It won't help his case to get a better contract next year. The fact that he's still available indicates that he feels he's worth more than what teams have offered him but at this point, it seems like he's going to have to settle for less. Maybe a team like NJ offers him more but at this point, it seems less likely that will happen or it would have by now.

As for Holl, I respectfully disagree but that's just my opinion.

What about Harmonic not playing in these playoffs? You aren't concerned about him skipping a season entirely to avoid COVID?

I read somewhere that he has child with compromised immune system which is why he stayed home this time around. I'm not sure he plays.

I listened to that same interview. I hate the idea of a Canadian Division because I like to see other Canadian teams have success if the Leafs are out. This kind of kills an all Canadian Stanley Cup finals. I HATE THAT!

Hamonic will prioritize family before money.
He did it before and he will do it again.

I am actually shocked more players didnt sit out.

I think Hamonic is making the smart move by sitting if that's what he does, as long as he stays in shape he can rejuvenate his career in another year.

No, though I do realize it's a possibility I don't think he skips an entire year. My sister has a compromised immune system and she can still live her life as can her family they just have to take extra caution. The leafs also have the best or one of the best medical staffs in the league and take extra precautions. Also, Ontario has pretty strict guidelines in place so that could work in our favour IMO.

I don't mind AHL teams traveling with the parent clubs and playing during the day but realize the chance of COVID being increased as well.
