Hammer isnt great anymore, and certainly isnt worth that contract! You would then have to deal with expansion draft frustrations, and have that salary when its time to give your bug prospects/rielly new contracts.

So in short, it would work out to be Hamonic for hyman,(SEA), Holl, kerfoot, and riell, unless th cap goes up.

Hamonic wants to stay in the Western conference so he can be close to home. I also don't feel he's worth $4M but who knows, Dubas likes spending money.

Why would we give Ottawa those players for nothing? If you're going to give them away why not choose a non-division rival?

You realize your 3 and 4 C's are 41 and 37? The risk of acquiring thornton if it requires dumping kerfoot is way too high.

Dumping Kerfoot for Hamonic in this situation Thornton is a bonus. I see the 3rd and 4th lines in this situation as interhcangeable. Both playing slightly more than an average 4th line and less than an average 3rd. Say 12 minutes each, 18 each for top 2. Engvall might be able to play some C as well.

I'd rather put them on waivers then give them to the Sens. Plus you'd save yourself a draft pick.
