I like it, but players don't just go on LTIR because you want them too...
is Ladd injured?

Could have been one last kick at the can for Ladd, even though his health was iffy, but now he's totally cooked. Similar to the Clarke MacArthur situation with Ottawa in 2017.

Not that we know of, but we do know he's a 34 year old coming off of ACL repair, was out for over half of the 18-19 season with a "lower-body injury" and was one of the league's better power forwards for the better part of a decade. There's definitely reason to believe there's been something nagging at him that will put in on LTIR at some point next season, maybe for the final time.

Personally, I believe he will be healthy next season and likely sent to the minors to save ~$300k in cap space. If there's an AHL season, he probably gets hurt at some point, due to all of the factors I just mentioned. Tough to say right now exactly what is going to happen.

Personally, I think the 1 year Hoffman deal is far more unlikely than Ladd to LTIR. Ladd has has nagging injuries, ones that could easily described as “quality of life” concerns. Frankly, I’m not sure how he even ended up off IR in the playoffs, he really shouldn’t be out there.

He will have to go through a physical, the doctors may choose not to clear him. It does not sound like he would voluntarily go on LTIR at this time, but we do not know how he felt after his 1 game in the playoffs.

At this point he has his money, 2X Cups and can go on LTIR and still get paid more. If he is told he is going to the AHL again I would guess he goes on LTIR.
