You got the RFA signings backwards. The leafs offered Dermott 895k. If someone offers him over 1.4M the leafs will let him walk and take the 3rd round pick compensation. no way they pay him1.5M. Obviously he didn’t sign the 895k offer sheet yet but he’s not gonna get more than 1M/year from Toronto. And he’s not arbitration eligible.

And Mikheyev is arbitration eligible and has a hearing soon. He will probably win something like 1.5-2M a year.

Ya, I overpriced Dermott to see how much money I was working with. I'm hoping it will be around 1.1 max. As for Mikheyev, I heard that based on his production he due for a 5% raise but since he has an arbitration hearing it will probably be raised to between 1-1.5. I think the article I read though was assuming he losses his hearing though.

I think an arbitration hearing just awards a sum of money to a player based on both sides case. And if the team declines to pay the offer. The player then becomes an unrestricted free agent. The team can then sign him again to a lower cost but they don’t have 1st shot anymore and don’t have the ability to match any offer anymore.
