That's a really poor return for Johnny. Severson is just an inferior version of Brodie and shouldn't be played on the 3rd pair anyways. Smith may never make the roster and Wood is a 3rd liner with fringe 2nd line potential (like Bennett)

I'd have to agree with Ledge in this case. It doesn't successfully address any need nor achieve any objective. If you trade a player like Johnny, you want to either be obtaining you prospects with high upside, futures as well as gaining significant cap savings. Alternatively, he should/could be shipped to fill a glaring need or obtain a player with game breaking ability/impact. This seems to be halfway between both and just overall underwhelming. I love the idea of rolling with such a deep D group so good thinking there, but maybe it could be achieved in better ways.

I really like TY Smith, but I would replace wood with a 1st rounder. Because Gaudreau is the better player than any of them by far. And Kylington is currently better than smith.
