Leafs with no more moves

Created by: Leafs_Storm
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 17, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I signed Mikheyev at 1.2M (as its been rumoured arbitration would likely find him somewhere from 1 to 1.5M, and then I had dermott bet on himself by accepting his QO (874,125) for 1 year, with the hope of a higher salary next season.

This left a 22-man roster with only 65K in cap space, with 1F & 1D as the spares.

The Leafs are in an odd spot, where I expect the KHL signees (Barabanov and Lehtonen, with Korshkov pushing as well) may all want regular roster spots, or else they'll return to the KHL. While normally, they'd be guaranteed spots, with 4 forwards on 1 year spots, and the bogosian signing with Sandin/Liljegren in the AHL, the players may not be getting their shots. This could hurt the Leafs long term as potentially good NHL players are not used in favour of aging vets for leadership. Only time will tell which decision was right.

We have too many bottom 6 forwards, not sure what Dubas' plan is but man are guys going to be fighting for their lives in training camp

The contracts seem close. The question you pose is fair.

My opinion, condensed schedule. The leafs are stacking up depth in the event that they are playing 4-5 games a week. In that case players would rotate in and out.

If Sandin or liljegren outright win a spot they will okay. Leafs have no liability to hurt feelings. They need to compete. Same goes for lehtonen and barbanov.

This will also give them depth for injuries. For that reason I think the roster is nearly complete baring any favourable teade offers.

Unless Robertson does something insane at training camp I believe he will be sent down. Then called up for injuries and playoffs.

Can he even play in the AHL? Has his CHL deal expired?

Nice job, the only leafs fans that Posted something that knows the offer of Dermott and what Miikheyek will get in arbitration. Every other fan just posts to post something, with out knowing anything. Atleast w/out knowing how much their team offer sheeted a player and what his and their options are.

You didn’t re-sign Joey Anderson though. No way the leafs traded for him and won’t sign him. Everything I read said the organization thinks highly of him. If he goes to the OHL it won’t go against their cap either.

I expect he'll re-sign around 800K-900K. Just based on the roster I have here, I had him starting the season in the AHL, so didn't bother signing him just to show the NHL roster. I thought he'd battle for a 4th line spot, but after the Jumbo signing, I think it's more likely he starts in the AHL.
