If Patrick is playing this is a pretty bad deal for the flyers imo

At this point I think we have to view JVR as a pure cap dump. He was a scratch some games in the playoffs. Essentially moving that 1st just to dump the two years after of JVR to make the trade work. Patrick is probably capped at a 2nd liner. Clearly a risk, but as a flyers fan I think the time to move Patrick is now.

JVR at 5.5m is pretty much fair value for a 25 goal scorer. The playoff roster was a mess, so I caution against using a handful of games after a long delay to measure who is able. JVR was most likely a victim of a complete lack of bottom six talent at center. With someone like Patrick or Frost stepping in, JVR’s game will fit much better than trying to put a scorer out with grant or Thompson.

Also I’m in the minority that says Laine is over-rated for what he currently provides. He had 3 more goals than TK this season but people act like he is a perennial Richard favorite. Add in the lack of any other aspect in his game and the moody behavior and the player screams high-risk.

also if he doesn't play on the top line, we'll hear about it in the media every night. not worth it imo
