Description

We go all in in 20-21, 21-22 and 22-23. Maybe even 23-24 if things go well in the long run for us.

After that, we launch a retool around Laffy, Kakko, Fox, Lundkvist, Miller and probably Shesterkin.

In the long term, a new SC window opens around 2028 for us.

Not a fan of the trade for the Hawks. I'd be fine with PB, 2021 1st and I'd rather have a better prospect rather than two ok prospects.

I'd imagine Chicago would be fine wih retaining even $2.5M, but the return for Toews would have to really move the needle in terms of young good players (roughly 23 years or younger) or prospects that have significant upside in addition to at least a 1st rounder. I don't see that here. This simply doesn't move the needle much for Chicago besides a potential good player in Henriksson despite not showing much so far in the SHL. Chicago has a lojam of LHD players besides a true #1 so Jones is of no interest, Buchnevich is fine but a 40 point player so again middle 6 roster guy, and Strome is of no interest when we already have the better Strome, Dach and plenty of 3rd line center options. Moving up from a early 2nd rounder to mid to late 1st rounder and same for 4th to 3rd is really not much especially in 2021 which is a weak draft after the first 7 or 8 players.

I get why NY would wants Toews and would do this, but the trade has to benefit both sides and really doesn't move the needle for Chicago at all.
