Pain for Shane

Created by: Wadejos123
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 17, 2020
Published: Oct. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Georgiev, Alexandar
  2. Kravtsov, Vitali
  3. Smith, Brendan
  4. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
pick is top 10 protected
2.
BOS
  1. Keith, Duncan ($1,538,462 retained)
  2. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
deal was originally created by a bruins fan. Personally feels like Boston is overpaying a bit
3.
CHI
  1. Byram, Bowen
  2. Calvert, Matt
  3. Cole, Ian
  4. 2022 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Calvert and Cole are just for cap purposes. I think COL would be able to make the salary cap work for 3 years with Kane but if they can't let me know.

COL has Graves, Toews, and Girard on the left side, making byram expendable for a superstar forward
COL
  1. Kane, Patrick
Additional Details:
sucks trading him within the division, but it's one of the only spots where kane might waive for the best chance to win that also has the cap space and prospect pool to make a deal work
4.
CHI
  1. Baertschi, Sven
  2. 2021 1st round pick (VAN)

All those packages are nice but Avs for sure cant take on a contract with term because they want to resign Landes. Thats why saad was the perfect target for them which they got for magic beans.

Yeah the Avs couldn’t make that work and keep Landeskog and Makar. They would have to decline.

I'd say the best way to make the trade with the Avalanche is to retain a **** ton down to like 6M and ask for Newhook + Byram. Avalanche are gonna say they decline but the value is fair.

Rangers would, but probably need some salary retention on Toews.

Newhook+Byram would be worth the dead cap imo

Oh 1000% percent. If Kane is gonna get traded, you need an absolute slam dunk. Honestly, I probably wouldn't care what the return was though because if dumb Stan trades Kane, then I'm following Kane

I'll root for Toews and Kane wherever they end up, but will always remain a hawks fan as my top priority. Say we can land Newhook+Byram for Kane, and Kravtsov+georgiev+a 1st for Toews we have a REALLY deep prospect pool all of the sudden with the opportunity to also add Owen power and Shane wright (with some lotto luck in 2022 of course). Imagine a young core of Dach, Newhook, Debrincat, Kubalik, Barett, Kurashev, Nylander, Kravtsov on offense plus Byram, Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudan, Vlasic, Regula on defense plus likely top 5 picks in 2021 and 2022 and a chance to have multiple later 1sts from other trades. I know I'm dreaming but how can you not root for that with how bright the future would be. Trading the core would suck but could set us up to have an insane roster in a few years once guys develop, just like Ottawa, NYR, LA Kings will.
