Jets decline. Fox would never want to sign in Winnipeg so we would be bringing in just as many headaches as we get rid of. The jets should just give laine what he wants and see what he can do with it

I dont know that nor do I want to speculate that. I am merely looking for a fair exchange that doesnt make me cringe as a Jets fan.

haha, how is that? hes 22 years old and has scored the 7th most goals in the NHL since he arrived and by most opinions is just scratching the surface. Fox is a very good Dman but you cant really believe that?

It’s true but only because Fox is controllable. Laine is going to want big money, real soon. Players value is around equal then.

Yes he does lol. That being said, moving Fox for Laine would make the Rangers roster seriously unbalanced.

I get that but to not jump on the opportunity to add Laine to this already ridiculous group of Forwards when you have a few ELC's on the roster would be criminal! Still 3 years of control on Laine.

I think this would be a problem that could be overcome!

IF the Rangers are trading Fox (plus a first AND Buchnevich), they would target a 1C, not get another winger.

that is the best deal you going to get for Laine, Jet fans you better take or it is going to be the Trouba situation all over again

I'm more than okay with a repeat of the Trouba situation if it means keeping Laine and going for a cup, the Jets window is likely only the next four seasons anyway.

Fox just stomps his feet till the Jets are forced to trade him, better off keeping your goal scorer/powerplay weapon, if the Rangers have another good RHD prospect then that's a different conversation.

I think it would be remiss not to consider that there could be other moves made by the NYR to solidify any areas of concern.

It is in reference to your point of "if the Rangers have another good RHD prospect then that's a different conversation" . therein I proffer the possibility of other potential moves the NYR could make with this roster to alleviate any deficiencies in the prospect pool or the roster for that matter. My point is that should not be the primary concern when adding a player like Laine.

Fox would be under team control for 6 more seasons. Ive listened to Kane whine, Ive listened to Trouba whine and now Laine. I can very easily listen to Fox whine for 6 years!

Also, what precedent does that set if they just bow down to a player. I'm a proud Winnipegger and fully understand and respect that this city is not for everyone but the privilege of playing on a NHL roster should be sufficient reason to suck it up!

Aside from a good chunk of last season Laine has not been a positive player and IMO has not entirely earned the role he feels he is entitled to. I firmly believe he will become the player everyone, including himself thinks he can be but good gosh.

Heres my hot take for ya; Laine sat out playoff games because of a sore wrist when other players battled through worse. I think his teammates feel like he quit on them.

Fox would immediately be the best defenceman on the team by quite a lot so this is another no brainer if this was offered (no chance NYR offers that though)
