Initial Creation Date: Oct. 17, 2020
Published: Oct. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would be if Robertson is sent down (as he is a Canadian Major Junior player (OHL in his situation, same for QMJHL and WHL) he cannot go to the AHL while he is OHL eligible. So they have to decide their plan before 10 games.). I am not saying this is what will happen, just looking at the scenario

Few things:

Korshkov and Barabanov have to be on the main roster. Both have contracts which significantly favor them playing overseas instead of the AHL.

Engvall and Holl are most likely the odd man out for their respective groups.

Anderson is making at least 925000. Mikheyev is probably getting closer to 1.5 M

I think regardless Holl or Engvall have to be moved. I think the chances of Mikheyev signing for less than $1.4 mil are pretty low. I also think it's a long shot that Dermott gets paid more than him. So I think the $60,000 in cap space you have will actually be more like -$400,000

Doubt he'll get 1.4... at worst it's 1.5. He's played not even half a season and that factors into what the arbitrator will decide. But regardless I think one of Holl and Engvall is gone.

I'm not too sure about that. In a perfect world, I say he gets $1.25M but I think since his camp wanted $1.8M and the Leafs offered $1M, it will likely be split down the middle.

I guess you guys will find out next week after his arbitration hearing. I believe it’s next week. You can google what date was set. Toronto’s offer sheet for Dermott was 895k. I doubt he nickels and dimes them to 1M. He’ll just sign it, he has no leverage. He can’t sign anywhere else unless someone offers him and hes not arbitration eligible. And if he gets offered 1.395M or above from another team, Toronto let’s him walk and takes the 3rd round pick compensation.

I think Mikheyev makes less as if he gets arbitration it goes to two years.

Anderson is a moron if he wants that high as it simply means he won't play as the Leafs will be in a cap crunch and they'll send him to the minors.

Holl played over 20 minutes a night and did fine at it. A damn bargain at 2 million. If he regresses or gets out played hell lose the spot but it's his to lose.

I too see Engvall being traded but we'll see

I don't understand why people think so low of Dermott.

Or why they're so quick to dump Holl.

895 to 1 million is about 13%. I wouldn't call that nickel and diming. If he made 5 mil that's about the difference between 5 mil and 5.65 mil

Or for us non athlete plebes the difference between say 60 thousand a year and 67.5 thousand or so. Doesn't sound like nickel and diming to me.

If they were arguing between 4.895 and 5 million it's a different story

Anderson's QO is $874,125. Doesn't go lower than that.

That's a two way deal. He can take $874 on a two way and get the $125,000 in the ahl or he can take a one way $700 k.

Look around the league happens all the time

1M or basically 900k is nickel and diming in contract negotiations terms my man.

It’s not 13% either; who did your math?? It’s 10.5%. 100k is 10% and 5k is .5%. Not that hard buddy.

So it would be the difference in making 60k or 66,500.

It's 11.7%. I eye balled it.

You do it from the bottom number. 105,000 is 11.7% of 895,000. That is certainly not nickel and diming.

Just so you realize. The difference between 895k and 1 mil is the same difference as 8.95 mil and 10 mil.

Not at all low on Dermott. Actually higher than most on him. Just think his value is low

BCAPP next comment: You know if it was 1 Billion dollars you’d be losing 105 Million dollars.
