Problem is they wouldnt have that cap space next off season for Petey n Hughes. Would have to be Roussel going the other way, scrap the Dallas trade and run a 22 man roster. I like this idea actually.. Wonder if Tampa would consider it if all else fails.

L and D, I believe there is a buy out period after the arb dates are done.

TMCL, I see bridge deals in Petey and Hughes' future. Either deals that take them to 26 with AAV's of $8M, or deals that take them to 28, same AAV but staggered earnings so they make north of 10M in the final years of the deal.

Buyouts Outside of the Regular Period
Clubs whom have 1 or more arbitration filings may be permitted to perform a buyout outside of the regular window. This gives teams another opportunity to become cap compliant following an arbitration case.

Clubs are permitted to perform a buyout outside the regular period during the 48 hour period beginning on the third day after the final of [CBA 13(c)ii]:
Settlement of the Club's final arbitration case, or
Receipt of the Club's last arbitration award

Requirements:
A buyout can only be performed on a player who was on the clubs reserve list at 3:00pm on the most recent trade deadline
The player must have a cap hit of at least $4,000,000 for the 2020 offseason

So for Petey, a 6 year deal at 6, 6, 8, 8, 8, 12. Hughes would be 6, 6, 6, 8, 8, 10, 12...AAV's of 8M.

No, just like how you cannot trade retained salary
