I don't see why not just keep Olofsson? fairly comparable players.

What? Olofsson is 24, with 9 even strength goals and 11 powerplay goals in his 1st full season. Laine is only 21 and already has 2 30+ goal seasons and a 40 goal season.

I feel like it’s gotta be someone like Reinhart being the main piece back from Buffalo in a Laine deal

All that for a one dimensional player doesn’t seem very smart

Both are relatively similar. Goal scorers? young? 40 goal potential? Am I missing something?

I think the point was that they're both only good at 1 thing. Everywhere else, it's like having 4 players instead of 5

Let's be clear, Oloffson isn't in the same ballpark as Laine. Laine is an absurd talent.

That being said, I don't think it really helps Buffalo to make this trade. Because after this season, Laine will be looking for a long term extension north of $9M and that risks making us an incredibly topheavy team. I'd rather have Olofsson at $4-5 and spread the cap through the lineup - especially if we're going to make a push to keep Hall.

I guess saying they are similar players as in, both young, shots are a weapon, high goal scoring potential, etc. Olofsson does play with Eichel but he's not teaching him that insane shot.

No he isn’t but I can guarantee eichel is creating a lot of room and space to use it playing with a top 5 c forsure helps...

I can agree there but still. That package with Olofsson in it doesn't match the value they both bring. It's a bit rich for our blood.

I was never talking about the package but to compare laine to olofsson is a little ridiculous imo

How isn’t it..? Ya olofsson has a good shot not as good as laine.. Laine hasn’t played with a jack eichel c.. laine scores at a much better rate and is younger where’s the comparison..? Nice olofsson has a good shot

Both one dimensional young goal scoring wingers with a lethal shot. Laine is better obviously but it's relatively comparable.
